Some of the art world’s biggest names showed up last week for the grand opening of Urs Fischer’s solo show at the New Museum. The only one absent was the artist, but his stunning sculptures, that turned over the entire space of the building, spoke his name out loud. For Urs Fischer: Marguerite de Ponty, his first solo presentation in an American museum, the Swiss prodigy occupied three gallery floors. The show is the acme of four years of work, an “introspective”, as curator Massimiliano Gioni calls it, which allows a comprehensive look at Fischer’s practice.

October 21~2009

The first exhibition of the season at Fondazione Morra Greco in Naples presents works by David Maljkovic and Susanne M. Winterling, in a show curated by Gigiotto Del Vecchio. This time as well, the artists have decided to deal with the spaces and with the city.  Susanne M. Winterling, in “The Portrait of the Artist as Torquato Tasso & the Stairs for the Servants”, investigates the years that the poet lived in Palazzo Caracciolo d’Avellino, which now houses the Morra Greco Foundation, while David Maljkovic’s work addresses the activity of Neapolitan architect Giuseppe Sambito, who designed the Italian pavilion at the fair in  Zagreb.
