Kate Spencer Stewart at PARK VIEW / PAUL SOTO, Los Angeles

Park View / Paul Soto is proud to announce the opening of the fall season with a solo exhibition by Los

Angeles based artist Kate Spencer Stewart. This is Stewart’s debut exhibition with the gallery. The show will open to the public on Tuesday, September 8 from 11am to 6pm. Hours will be extended on Saturday, September 12 for the public to visit during the evening hours from 4 to 8pm. Normal gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm. Appointments are suggested but walk-ins are welcome. The gallery is adhering to social distancing standards with no more than two persons at a time in the gallery space, and hygiene guidelines are being followed as advised by the city, county, and state. We look forward to welcoming you.

Kate Spencer Stewart works by gleaning scraps of visual information, embers which become armatures for the paintings. Their compressed forms are executed at large scale via a process of calibration and negation, where flows of atmospheric color field painting are continually interrupted. The works in turn reverberate like apparitions. They transmit a diffuse energy beyond language, which escapes in a process of visual abandonment, summoning the void via pigment. Vacillating between belief and ni- hilism, these works manifest as an affective exhaust that cannot be marked or put to use.

At PARK VIEW / PAUL SOTO, Los Angeles
until 24 October 2020
